Rules

  • No debating the rules.

  • Any pedal-powered bike is acceptable.

  • Must wear a helmet at all times while riding.

  • Follow the rules of the road.

  • No drafting, unless in pairs.

Note on pairs: they can share resources, and must finish together, or a DNF will be assigned.

  • No booking of accommodations before the start of the ride.

    • One exception: due to the somewhat remoteness of the finish, booking ahead for the night you complete the ride in Cape Breton is OK.

  • No outside assistance of any kind is allowed, meaning:

    •  Any service acquired must be available to ALL riders (food, lodging, etc.).

    • "Meeting" friends and family on the road is considered support.

  • If there is a mechanical failure, the rider may obtain a ride to receive service if the mechanical issue can’t be resolved on the spot. If the rider would like to continue the ride, they can be brought back to the spot they broke down and continue.

  • All riders must be visible, especially at night. We suggest wearing light and/or reflective clothing. You should light up like a Christmas tree at night!

  • Ankle reflectors are highly recommended.

  • Riders are required to have two rear lights (one flashing, one steady), and at least one front light that can light up the road enough to see at night. One rear light should be running at all times.

  • Anything you bring with you at the start, must make it back with you to the finish (excluding consumables).

Rules are based on the honour system.

Please follow them and uphold the self-supported nature of the ride.
