LOCOmotion 600

Welcome to the third edition of the LOCOmotion 600!

The LOCOmotion 600 is an approximately 600 km endurance ride starting in Halifax. It’s a fixed route, single-stage, self-supported event. The ride is done solo or in pairs, and riders have 2.5 days to complete the route. The ride starts at 06:00 on June 22, 2024 from the top of Citadel Hill (road), and ends at 18:00 June 24 in the same spot.

What is self-supported? 

​

• No support car, water drops, or outside support of any kind - it’s all up to you to get to the finish! 

• In other words, riders must be fully self-sufficient and not receive any private assistance. All food, lodging, etc. must be commercially available to all riders. 

There are three unmanned checkpoints riders must hit. The rider manual will outline checkpoints and all the nitty-gritty stuff you should know about the event. The route will undergo slight changes up until the start, but the direction will remain the same.

 Fees breakdown: 

• LOCOmotion 600 Registration fee: $50 (covers costs to run event)*

• Tracker fee: $80 USD (tracker rental and mapping fee); $30 USD if you own a tracker (mapping fee)**

• Cycling Nova Scotia Membership fee options: one-year $50; one-time event membership fee $15; $0 if you already have a CNS membership for the year. The membership provides insurance coverage for your ride.

*Registration fee is non-refundable. It can be transferred to the following year. Please contact tip2tipns@gmail.com if cost is a barrier to riding.

**Trackers are required. They are supplied and supported by Follow My Challenge USA. 

​

Please note: In order to ride, you must fill out the Follow My Challenge form to either register your tracker, or rent one, prior to the start. If you do not have a tracker rented or registered by June 15, 2024, a week before the event, you will be taken off the rider list, even if the LOCOmotion 600 registration fee has been paid.
